According to David Owen, Lincoln Logs "are still popular enough to consume four carloads of Ponderosa pine trees from Oregon every month. They were invented in 1916 by John Lloyd Wright ... and were inspired by a Japanese technique for constructing earthquake-proof buildings". ('Where toys come from', Atlantic Monthly, October 1986, p. 66).
